An experienced systems engineer, Peter Bria works at Sea Corp in Middletown, Rhode Island. With an avid interest in supporting the defense activities of the U.S. Navy, Peter Bria is a member of the Naval Submarine League (NSL).
A non-profit membership organization, NSL’s primary focus is promoting public awareness about how important submarines are to national security operations. One of the ways the organization achieves this goal is by cultivating a community of submarine advocates. In addition to public outreach work, NSL members are asked to engage in a variety of submarine-support activities, such as joining a submarine crew support group or commissioning committee.
Members of a commissioning committee have the privilege of participating in the ceremonies and celebrations that accompany the commissioning of a new submarine. These committees also are responsible for raising funds for “care packages” for the crew and planning public relations activities to promote pride in the defense service these vessels and their crews provide.
